How many Automatic Weapons did the Palestinians have in their possesion the day before Oslo?
It's a simple question, and there is a real answer, with a real number.
But how many people know what it is?
Once I get the right answer, I will follow up the post in the comments section.

Don't you read your Shabbak briefings?
Nope, also the wrong answer.
rafi: We could be here all night if we play that game.
More importanty, how many katashas?
Beth
I've got plenty of time!!!! :-)
I did a quick google search and did not finsd a number....
Well, I can't claim to know the precise number, but here's a short clip from Iranian TV that gives a pretty good sense of the magnitude of the change that Oslo wrought in that department: Its from an interview with Ziyad Abu 'Ein, a member of the Fatah leadership, who explains frankly how the entire intent and purpose of Oslo was to arm the Palestinians and enable them to wage a terrorist war:
"...there would have been no resistance in Palestine if not for Oslo. It was Oslo that strongly embraced the Palestinian resistance. All the occupied territories -- and I was one of the activists in the first and second Intifadas, and I was arrested by Israel several times... If not for Oslo, there would have been no resistance. Throughout the occupied territories, we could not move a single pistol from one place to another. If not for Oslo, the weapons we got through Oslo, and if not for the 'A' areas of the Palestinian Authority, if not for the training, the camps, the protection provided by Oslo, and if not for the release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners through Oslo -- this Palestinian resistance could not have carried out this great Palestinian Intifada, with which we confronted the Israeli occupation."
"Under the 1993 Oslo peace agreements, which set up limited Palestinian self-rule, the Palestinians were given 15,000 guns and pistols, 240 machine guns, armored personnel carriers, and other equipment to build their police force. Israel itself provided some of the weapons."
So is the answer to the pop-gun quiz 240 ?
wireless - you yourself quoted they were given that in Oslo. The question is what they already had before Oslo...
"were given 15,000 guns and pistols, 240 machine guns, armored personnel carriers, and other equipment to build their police force."
WTF???
Who need Machine guns and APC's to "build a police force"
Give the little sheet heads whistles, billy clubs, and a box of donuts, and tell them to get to work!
The shabak reported a few weeks ago that the entire cache of automatic weapons in all the territories the day before Oslo did not exceed 20.
J.
We have a winner!
That's right. The Shabbak reported that there were absolutely no more than 20 automatic weapons in the entire territories before Oslo.
Can anyone imagine how sick a mind it takes to give Islamic Fundamentalists (even if the term was only used by Daniel Pipes back then) and known terrorists thousands and thousands of automatic weapons.
People are going to look back and wonder what psychological illness Israeli society was suffering from.
As lurker correctly pointed out, the Arabs did not have the capability to move weapons anywhere - until the Left gave it to them.
Can you imagine that - the Left put up completely in this situation, and they still tries to throw the blame on the Right.
Now read my post about the answer.
