Back in February I gave my predictions (and here too) for various Ministerial positions immediately after the elections. I've since updated my thoughts on some of them, but now that the Likud and Yisrael Beiteinu have finally signed their agreement, let's see how things are turning out, and how accurate my initial predictions were.

I said:
Interior Security: Lieberman/Yisrael Beiteinu
They did:
Interior ("Public") Security: Yitzchak Aharonovitch/Yisrael Beiteinu


I said:
Tourism: No prediction
They did:
Tourism: Stas Misezhnikov/Yisrael Beiteinu


I said:
Justice Minister: Dan Meridor/Likud
They did:
Justice Minister: Yaakov Ne'eman/Joint appointment by Yisrael Beiteinu and Likud

It seems Silvan Shalom bet his card against Bibi, and lost. Why would Bibi want such a rival? If he did, ya know, he could have gone with Livni.

I wonder if Livni stews. (Ehud Barak meanwhile has no negotiating room.) Isn't it a matter of time before he leaves politics? Otherwise? Kadima races into government, after all. And, Ehud switches to Kadima. Since Livni seems to be sitting on a much weaker chair? But what do I know?

If this is what Bibi wanted all along, I give him credit for playing his cards very, very well.
