Eretz Yisrael Time

In my nearly daily conversations with my Arab neighbors (who happen to be building my new home – and taking home a tidy sum of money to support their families at the same time), the subject of America always comes up.

Ahhh, you should see the dreamy-eyed expressions that crosses the faces of my fellow residents of Yesh(a) when we talk about it.

There is nothing they would love more than to leave Eretz Yisrael Palestine for America.

Alas, even with all the money I am paying them, it isn’t enough to make it happen, and then there is the problem of the Green Cards, Visas, and gaining citizenship.

Now, as regular readers of JoeSettler know, there are relocation programs for Arabs that sell their land in Yesh(a) to Jews and want to resettle in some Western country without a death sentence hanging over them. The problem is that these programs are small-scale. They’re run by handfuls of people with (relatively speaking) small budgets. It’s enough to assist (let’s say for this post) a few hundred emigrants a year, but that is still a drop in the bucket.

It’s time we introduced a new Jewish Zionist Enterprise, we’ll call it Nefesh L’Nefesh.

We’ll take all that to-be-wasted "Realignment"/Deportation & Fence ($5 Billion Dollars - talk about more bang for the buck) money, and then for every Jewish family that arrives via Nefesh B’Nefesh, a Palestinian family, or two, or ten will be offered to opportunity to settle the golden shores of America with their own Golden Egg.

I can see it now.

No longer will my Arab neighbors have to settle for their fleeting dreams of America as they work building up my permanent settlement. We can make their dream a reality. A dream they openly state, covet and desire. We can make it happen.

Think about it. Some of the money could even directly go to buying the homes the immigrating Jews are selling and then giving it to the emigrants. Not only would it make it easier for the Jews to pick up and go, but it would offer some incentive the tougher stay-at-diaspora cases to make a decision.

How do you get the U.S. and the E.u to open it's gates to a people even the other Arab countries don't want??

That's an excellent question, and I want you to come back tomorrow with 3 answers.

We have immigration lawyers in the U.S. standing by.

Just think of the Diaspora Jew's reaction when Achmed moves into the neighborhood! They'll scramble to move out before the property values drop!

Are you saying that the US and EU who always accuse Israel of being racist against the Arabs don't want Arabs as their neighbors??? Why not? ;)

I think it's a good post, but there is one issue with this suggestion: the ones who leave will be the ones who are most moderate, most willing to live as neighbors, and most able to provide stability. It is exactly these people that should be encouraged to stay.

So maybe Nefesh L'Nefesh could create some sort of joint venture program with Arab Israelis and/or Palestinians for buisness ventures on both sides of the line instead of encourageing one group to leave and another to come. That way we encourage all to come and be made better by it.

jbs: So you are proposing something along the lines of the Erez Industrial Park in Gaza (it supported thousands of Gazans), a venture between Israelis and Palestinians to create joint industries? (Which incidentally the Palestinians ransacked and destroyed after the Expulsion).

But anyway, no, I'd rather encourage everyone to leave, unless they are willing to live in a Jewish state as defined by Moshe Feiglin.

Joe, what Halachic basis is there to even allow the non-Ger Toshav Goyim to staty in Eretz Yisrael?

Secondly what basis is there to accept a non-Torah state? And yes that includes religious coercion.

I agree wholeheartedly. Let's help the Arabs who want to leave (those Arabs who long for the freedoms and opportunities of America should make decent US citizens)and kill the rest before they kill us.

I've been saying this for a long time. I live in Brooklyn among "Palestinians", and they're the nicest people, they work and make money and their kids play baseball, and they have a normal life.

Here's how I'd run the program you're talking about:

1. The government announces that just as it is a national priority to encourage and promote the aliyah of Jews, for the same reasons it is just as much a priority to encourage and promote the yeridah of non-Jews.

2. Tell the USA and the EU that we waive all financial aid, in lieu of which we want them to issue visas for Israelis of the goyish persuasion who are interested in leaving. (Yes, the EU isn't giving us anything now; well, we demand that they start giving us visas.)

3. Divert half the current government and Jewish Agency aliyah budget to this yeridah program, which will run in parallel to the aliyah program. The same shlichim who promote Jewish aliyah can now handle the klitah of the non-Jewish yordim.

4. At the same time make it clear that the aliyah of non-Jews is not in the public interest, even if they are entitled to come under the Law of Return. No money should be spent promoting it, and Jewish Agency employees are ordered to discourage it, and will certainly not be paid bonuses for encouraging it.

5. Part of this program would be buying the departing Arabs' houses, and then sellling them to olim. Perhaps entire Arab villages can be paired with Jewish communities overseas, and they can simply swap houses, with the difference in value being compensated, perhaps with a government or JA subsidy.

And yes, it is true that the moderate Arabs will leave and the radical ones will stay. Once that has happened, we can safely assume that any Arab who remained is an enemy, and treat him as such.
