"The government" already has my picture in the Interior Ministry as well as a digital one that I took for my driver's license. I have also given my handprint (and presumably my fingerprints as well) at the airport for the speedy passport control gate. I don't really see what the fuss is about. I am who I am and I have nothing to hide. Neither should my kids.
I don't even post anonymously, I hope I never never have to be afraid to say what I think or do what I believe needs to be done. I will have to take full credit or responsibility for those actions.

Unfortunately, that is a naive way of thinking about your personal information.

You don't need to be doing anything wrong to not want to have an all-powerful (relatively speaking) and unscrupulous entity to have full information on you.

We've seen the police tap phones without warrants and even leak the contents of the calls.

This kind of abuse goes on all the time.

A centralized database for the police and government official to sniff through at will (and experience in Israel shows that that will happen) is a complete abuse of one's basic expectation to right to privacy.

It's called Big Brother.

Paranoid? Me? ;-)

It recently suggested to me that "paranoid" is only when they're not really after you.

I'll have to check into his definition.

I always thought that "Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they're not really after me."
